 MAS BANDS ON MARKET HILL

Down they came,
Many dancing feet,
In a lively prance,
And colorful display,
In full view,
Of the blazing sun,
Down Market Hill,
Masqueraders,
In eager strut,
Apparel aglow,
Like the Flamboyant trees,
That graced Old Fort,
And radiated,
From the hills,
In gleaming shine.
Down they came,
In the afternoon heat,
Their emergence timed,
For the sun's embrace,
That set satin and sequin,
Ablaze,
And made candle floss,
Glisten.

Down they came,
The big mas bands,
Vibrant people,
In fancy costumes,
In spectacular show,
In constant flow,
Jumping,
Swaying,
From side to side
Moving to the sound,
Of ringing steel,
In the carnival bands,
On Market Hill.

Down they came,
Carnival faces,
Jovial abandonment,
Excitement,
In the African band,
With the Zulu spears,
And the fancy beads,
And the Viking band,
Sheep skin clad feet,
And horns,
And to hell and back,
Soldiers at war,
In full military garb,
And sailors ashore,
In their spotless white,
And flag wavers of Sienna
Waving flags,
Multicolored flags,
In the big mas bands,
Coming down,
Market hill,
