On this the 35th Anniversary of Grenada’s independence,
I salute all of you, sisters and brothers, for your
invaluable accompaniment of nation building over the
This persistent and proud task requires the
determination of all; and you, our esteemed nationals in
the Diaspora have persisted in helping to transform
Grenada. Without interruption or complaint, without
counting the cost or searching for reward, you have
always firmly attached yourself to the vision and
mission of a successful and buoyant Grenada
All this you have done, even as you yourselves have
built vibrant overseas communities, while you have kept
your families strong and happy and while you make
tremendous achievements in a plethora of fields.
Selflessly, you give to Grenada, year after year, and
that assistance is of immense significance and its
impact continues to be invaluable.
And so you make us burst with pride! We cherish you.
On this happy occasion, Sisters and Brothers in the
Diaspora, we boldly declare you as our 16th Constituency
and permit me to re-emphasize the Government of
Grenada’s commitment to establishing a more meaningful
framework and structure for your involvement with
Grenada. This will be unveiled in the coming months, and
we invite you to be a part of it.
Today, with tourism, as one of the pillar of our
economic mainstay, your participation in this sector
will bring new viability and vitality with each and
every one of us taking pride in ourselves as a Grenadian
people. Our attraction will not be limited to our land,
flora and fauna. Fellow Grenadians, it must be the
quality and beauty of our Grenadian character that
overwhelms – united as one people.
