Toro Depradine
Had Successful Book Launch in Grenada.
Journalist and
author Lincoln Toro Depradine says he is highly
appreciative of the public’s response to his recently
released book, “White Frock & Coals Dust.’’
The 200-page book, which includes
photographs, chronicles some of the stories of people
and events that have occurred in Grenada – particularly
in the Carenage/Wharf community – as well as in
Trinidad, Aruba and Kenya.
The book was officially launched August 6
in Grenada at an event attended by scores of people,
including Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas; Foreign
Minister Peter David; Education and Human Resource
Development Minister Franka Bernadine; Tourism Minister
Glynis Roberts; Labour and Social Security Minister Karl
Hood; Environment and Foreign Trade Minister Michael
Church; and Minister of State in the Office of the Prime
Minister, Senator Arley Gill.
“I’m thankful to all the people who
attended the launch, those who have purchased books, and
those who have commented, encouraged and critiqued,’’
said Depradine. “Books are still available for sale at
Sea Change Bookstore and Braithwaite’s Shop on the
Carenage, Atlantic News Bookstore at Maurice Bishop
International Airport, Presents Bookstore at Excel Plaza
and at Art & Soul at Spiceland Mall.’’
Depradine, who assisted the Pysadee
Outreach with the recent distribution of school supplies
at River Sallee Government School, presented school
principal Ian James with a complimentary copy of “White
Frock & Coals Dust.’’
He has ordered additional copies of the
book for Grenada. With the arrival of the next
shipment, Depradine plans what he calls a “Parish
Promotional Tour,’’ where he’ll make the book available
to libraries and residents in communities across the
nation, including Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
